Rock lamps: the Menhirs illuminate the outdoor area of Villa Wisteria on the Karst plateau
Menhir di Luce, for their refinement and natural beauty, were chosen to illuminate the architectural magnificence of Villa Wisteria, recognised among the Villas and buildings of historical interest in the city of Trieste.
Designed by engineer Giuseppe Dimmer and built in the very first years of the 20th century, the villa has come back to life today thanks to a major renovation using as many characteristic local materials as possible, in order to enhance the Karst territory and its resources. It was in accordance with this philosophy that Essenze di Luce’s Menhirs were included in the project to light the outdoor area: outdoor lamps handmade in Friuli and made of natural Italian Flowery Grey stone, a local marble with a dominant grey-blue colour with warmer veins, quarried right in Carnia.
Three rock lamps Menhir di Luce Soft placed at the entrance welcome guests with their single horizontal beam of light that illuminates the paving, delineating the perimeter from the gate along the car park to the entrance of the villa, where a Menhir di Luce Cross unique piece, over three hundred kilos of pure Carnic marble divided into three luminous sections, flanks the villa in its majesty.
Walking through the garden, we find Stake illuminating the walkway leading to the Greenhouse, a newly constructed horizontal building made of wood, karst stone and corten, connected to the main villa. Stake, a vertical technical light for the garden, contrasts the horizontal geometry of the pebble garden that divides the two structures and provides privacy and quiet for guests. The choice of the Ardesia Black Pillar texture for the rock lamps is a long-term choice: in fact, slate, thanks to the natural presence of iron oxide, tends to release rust-coloured stains over time, in perfect chromatic match with the corten already present.
A perfect redevelopment that respects architecture, history and territory.
